Conference Sessions:
Session One
Keeping the Mission of our Church Christ-Centered
Topics include: the bandwagon of mission statements; why the church is full of me-centered consumers; how little-dog churches are trying to become like the big-dog churches; how a Christ-centered mission benefits the church; having a personal mission statement; why discovering our mission is not difficult; changes we made when we realized we were man-centered and needed to become Christ-centered; why the mission of the church is to glorify God by imaging and proclaiming Christ; how to do discipleship in the local church.
Session Two
Guarding the Holiness of God by Reinstituting Church-Discipline
Topics include: a survey of church discipline in the Old and New Testaments as well as
the early church; defining church discipline and why “brother/sister discipline” is a better
title; why we must do church discipline; five stages of church discipline; answering questions about church discipline like “Where is the grace?” and “How do you treat someone whom you remove from your church?”
Session Three
Forming a Biblical Leadership Structure for the Church
Topics include: an evaluation of inadequate leadership models; how the leadership
structure of the church set a model for our government’s structure; a biblical model for
plurality of leadership among elders, pastors, and deacons; a ministry description for
pastors, elders and deacons (What in the world do they do?); biblical qualifications for
leaders; rewards of ministry; the role the wives of leaders play in leadership.
Sessions Four
Maintaining Polity Sound and True to the Word of Christ
Topics include: a call to maintain pure doctrine; how to keep doctrine pure and central
in our church; a method for preaching expository sermons that are centered on Christ;
putting your policies in writing (e.g., the constitution, stewardship manual, safe kids policy,
etc.); administering the processes of the church (e.g., bringing on new leaders, adding
and removing members, congregational meetings, weddings and funerals, running
leadership meetings).
